The 6 Core Human Needs that Drive Your Behavior

Why do we do the things we do…
 
What shapes our experience in life…
 
What drives our behavior and the value we place on things in life…
 
Today let’s talk about the 6 Core human Needs
…first 4 are needed for survival
…the last 2 needed for fulfillment
 
It’s important we meet each of these needs
It’s also important to understand HOW you are meeting these needs…positively or negatively impacting your life
 
How to you prioritize each of these…
How do you meet each of these…
Are you meeting each of these needs…
What can you do to better meet each area/need…
 
Ultimately (by understanding these core needs) it helps us Create Fulfillment and Drive Right Behavior
 
  1. CERTAINTY
      1. assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure
      2. we try to control our environment to avoid change
      3. FULFILL: find activities that create routine but push you outside comfort zone.
  2. UNCERTAINTY
      1. the need for the unknown, change, variety.
      2. some prioritize this need which is why they don’t stay consistent or change jobs/relationships
      3. FULFILL: feed your mind with new experiences and curiosity. ignite passion for life.
  3. SIGNIFICANCE
      1. feeling unique special or needed
      2. usually people that prioritize seek recognition. problem when it outweighs your goals
      3. FULFILL: commit to your goals, personal mastery and focus
  4. CONNECTION/LOVE
      1. a strong feeling of closeness with someone/something
      2. sometimes we isolate or don’t prioritize this need
      3. FULFILL: prioritize relationships…BUT not at self love expense
  5. GROWTH (fulfillment in life) self
      1. expansion of capacity, capability, understanding
      2. constant striving without growth doesn’t translate to happiness
      3. FULFILL by prioritizing self growth and learning from challenges (attract to person you become)
  6. CONTRIBUTION (fulfillment in life) others
      1. a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to a supporting others
      2. contribution is a need that is far undervalued…Unique Talent incorporates this Need
      3. FULFILL: find ways to focus on your Unique Talent in a way to contribute to the world
