17 Principles of Personal Achievement

by Napoleon Hill

Today is number 6 in a 12 week series on the Prosperity Pillars. Principal number 6 is; I Create An Attitude Of Abundance.Everyone likes talking about abundance.

Winston Churchill said, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”  Boy, isn't that true? Let me ask you a question.

Do you want more abundance in your life?
Do you want more prosperity in your life?
Do you feel that you have abundance in your life?
Is their abundance around you?

Now the reason I ask you that question is because many of us operate from a place of scarcity.

And you cannot create success from scarcity.

Where Are You Operating?

I want you to analyze your thoughts. When you go into any given situation, are you operating from a place of scarcity or abundance? Do you feel there are solutions?
Do you feel that there is enough to go around? Scarcity is a manipulator. Scarcity makes you feel like:

  • You know things aren't going well for you.
  • There's not a lot to offer.
  • There's not enough opportunity.
  • There's not enough time in the day.
  • There's not enough money at the end of the month.

You cannot create success and prosperity without an attitude of abundance.  You just can't do it from a place of scarcity!

Breaking The Scarcity Cycle

What you need to do is break that cycle.  You've got to make an effort to stop thinking from a place of scarcity. So let’s do a mental assessment.

  1. Think about your reaction to various situations that have happened over the last year.
  2. Ask yourself whether you're operating from scarcity or abundance.

No matter where you’re at, abundance is going to be the key.  So how do you go ahead and start creating abundance in your life? You need to know the difference between faith and belief.

Faith And Belief

Belief in abundance is generally created from a place of experience.  When you have experiences in your life, you create new beliefs.

Faith is something that you choose.  If you choose to have faith, you may not have experience yet that tells you it's there.  You can use faith as a way to be able to create abundance in your life.  You need to have faith that there is enough for everyone.

If you've ever gone rock climbing, you quite often cannot see a little rock or ledge that your hand or foot can reach. You have to rely on what another person is telling you because they can see above or below where you can’t.

Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
Just because you can't see things in your life doesn’t mean that there's not enough out there for you to be successful.

How To Start Increasing Your Faith

You can start increasing that faith by writing affirmations and simply saying, “I choose to have an attitude of abundance. I create an attitude of abundance.”  This principle doesn't say you need an attitude of abundance. It's I create an attitude of abundance!

Start preparing your responses to situations, so that when things come up (and they will) you've already made the decision that you are going to choose abundance versus scarcity. That's the key!

Creating An Attitude Of Abundance Now

Here’s how you’re going to be able to apply this in your life right now.  Now one of the key strategies for abundance is the attitude of gratitude. Gratitude will take you to a place where you will feel much more abundance immediately.

Make the list of at least 10 things that you are grateful. See how that slowly affects your mind and your attitude towards abundance and away from problems.  When you're focused on abundance you won't be focused on scarcity.

May this gratitude and attitude of abundance start flowing from you every day.
