Listen to the Episode Here (09:52)
Today I want to talk with you about Habits of High Performance…but first, let me give you the Quote of the Day….
QUOTE OF THE DAY…Brendon Burchards Book, “Clarity is the child of careful thought and mindful experimentation”.
Clarity is something I think many of us want, but few of us put the time into finding…
Do you ever have days where you wish you had better direction…
…where you wonder if you are on the right path…
…when you ask yourself if you are chasing the right dreams…
Maybe you just sometime feel confused as to why circumstances, events or people in your life continue to cause anxiety and stress.
Ultimately, when we are faced with decisions, difficult circumstances and even critical choices in our lives….
…this is when the need for CLARITY becomes so important.
In his book High Performance Habits, Brendon talks about one of the 1st and fundamental priorities and CHARACTERISTICS of high performers is CLARITY.
If you are struggling with direction, uncertainty, difficulty making decision…etc…then its highly possible you lack CLARITY in your life. So lets talk about clarity today and strategies for helping you gain more.
FIRST: Clarity isn’t something you HAVE…Its something you GENERATE.
You generate it by asking great questions…just like your thoughts…
…who are you, what do you want, how will you get there….get the point?
SECOND, Clarity will have a direct impact on your self esteem…positive and negative.
The goal is to create unambiguous and challenging goals in order to increase self esteem and performance.
You know who you are…You know what you want… know how you will get it?
Brendon’s book talks about 3 things:
1-Envision the Future 4
2-Determine the Feelings you are after
3-Determine what’s Meaningful
The Future Four- High Performers get clear on what they want for themselves, their social world, their skills and their service to others.
I will let you read for yourself, but the key here is to determine (clearly and precisely) what you want each of these areas to manifest in your life. For example, I have set descriptors like…
Self: motivation, inspiration, confidence
Social: caring, present, inspiring
Skills…Service…etc. You get the point. You must get clear.
You also need to determine what feelings you want.
My mentor Robert Stuberg always used to have me and other go through a Values Exercise. (peace, happiness, love, recognition, success)
Sooner later we all recognize that it is NOT “things” that we want. It is the “feelings” that things will give us in our lives.
Finally, Brendon talks about developing CLARITY by determining what’s meaningful in your life.
More importantly, he asked over 1300 individual high performers how they determined what was “meaningful”.
Here is what they said:
Enthusiasm- the projects they have passion around
Connection- to others outside themselves
Satisfaction- passion+growth+contribution
Coherence- does the story of your life make sense?
Add these 4 things together to create a sense of strong MEANING…which leads to CLARITY.
So, lets review….Clarity (for high performance high achievers) is created by…
-envisioning future self, social, skills
-finding the feelings you truly want
-determining what has meaning in your life
I hope that this topic helps you to create CLARITY in your life and business. I highly encourage you to check out the book, and lets work on be INTENTIONAL with your life this week. After all, a life worth living is a life worth planning and being intentional with.
Thanks for listening. Have an amazing day.
