17 Principles of Personal Achievement

by Napoleon Hill

This is going to be a great week. There are so many things happening. I'm excited and I hope you have a lot going on in your life as well, but before I get started I'd like to start with the Mastermind App Quote of the Day:

“There is always a way if I am committed” by Tony Robbins.

That is such an abundant way of thinking which leads us to the topic this week.

Prosperity Pillar #6  "I create an attitude of abundance"

For those of you that have the poster of the 12 Prosperity Pillars, you've seen this on your wall and it's such a great topic. I found this is a common characteristic of successful, happy, and fulfilled people in that they have an attitude of abundance.  Notice also this pillar says I create (emphasis on create) an attitude of abundance.  It's not just about abundance. I really believe you need to create it, you need to make it an attitude, and you need to make it a habit. Creating an attitude of abundance can affect, help, and just expand your life in so many ways.

So what is an attitude of abundance? I believe it's the ability to truly believe and have faith that there is enough.  Faith that your potential is infinite and unlimited. There is no lack in your life because there's plenty around for everyone, including yourself. I believe this is a huge key to your success.

The challenge is that our mindset or our mental blueprints are formed by our life experiences.  We created all these limiting beliefs. So to be able to change what T. Harv Eker would say is your money blueprint, you need to be able to change your limiting beliefs in order to create an attitude of abundance.  Your ability to change your blueprint and the way you think is going to directly impact your ability to have an attitude of abundance. This is going to require Faith. It's going to require persistence. It's going to require dedication. Let's start by understanding some really important things.

There's one point I want to emphasize the most. Abundance is a choice much like happiness, direction, and learning.  Abundance is a choice because it's based on faith outside of yourself.  It's going to require a decision to make the choice that abundance is there.  This is not something that you usually have just proven in your life. You have to believe in yourself and have faith that it's there.  You’ve got to start by choosing abundance. I know sometimes it's difficult when faced with challenges and obstacles and things in your life. This is how you're going to deal with them. This is why it means you're going to have to put in the work until your attitude of abundance is a habit.  It's just a natural progression of where your mind goes. Creating a habit of an attitude of abundance is absolutely the key.

Create daily rituals that will help you to create an abundant attitude.

  • affirmations
  • practicing gratitude
  • service for other people
  • reflecting on the things that you appreciate in your life.

These are all things that you can do. We'll talk a little bit more about that in a minute.

First, let's break down the differences between an abundant and a scarcity mindset.  I believe if you really understand and recognize the differences, then you'll be able to identify the best approach to look at things in your life.

With a scarcity mindset you believe that everything is limited. You believe that time, money, opportunity, and wealth are all limited.  This makes you worry and you make fear- based decisions. You operate and problem solve from a place of “lacking” and limiting perspective.  You're afraid of missing out. You’re afraid of not having enough. You try to save your way into a profit rather than focusing on the upside. These are the characteristics of a scarcity mindset.

With an abundant mindset you believe there's plenty for everyone. You believe there's plenty of wealth, happiness, fulfillment, resources, etc to go around.  You operate from a place of unlimited potential. You always operate from a place of solutions and the “big picture”. You are willing to celebrate the successes of others because you believe there is plenty of success to go around. You drive the profit in your business as upside not just protecting your downside. In an abundant mindset, you're on the offense. You're not just protecting through defense.

I can tell you from experience, I’ve run several businesses and I've operated from both mindsets at different times of my life.  I remember a time, not so long ago, I was more worried about expenses than driving revenue. Sometimes we think of ways we can save money to make things work, but it seems things are such a struggle.  You get a little bit in that negative mindset and you are focused on the wrong thing. I don't believe it was harder for me because I still had struggles when I had an abundant mindset, but it was harder because my limited faith or belief and focus created more struggle for me.  I wasn't focused on the big picture. The key is focusing on the big picture.

I really love the principle taught by T. Harv Eker.  He says we live in a world of duality.

  • Good vs Bad
  • Good vs Evil
  • Abundance vs. scarcity
  • Your inner world vs your outer world

I believe it really does start with your mindset if you want to create abundance. Not only do we live in a world of Duality, but we live in a world of cause and affect or result. Success, prosperity, money, these are things that are results in your life.  They're not things that you get unless you have a cause. These are results of a positive mindset. Money is a result of your mindset. I believe abundance is a result of your mindset, so focusing on your mindset which causes your ability to create abundance in your life is super important.

I want to emphasize the difference between an abundant thinker and a scarcity thinker. I want you to sit back and just focus on whether or not there are situations in your life where you are operating out of scarcity rather than abundance.  I'm going to give you a few examples just to jog your thought process.

Abundant thinkers are focused on faith vs. fear.  If you're focused on fear, you're in a scarcity mindset.  What am I going to lose? What if this happens? What about the future? Faith is an abundant mindset.  You are optimistic about the future. You have confidence in the future.

Abundant thinkers focus on solutions vs. problems.  Scarcity thinkers view problems as overwhelming. You don’t even try to come up with solutions because you're too focused on the problem. Practice abundance by focusing on the solutions.

Abundant thinkers focus on the opportunity vs. obstacles. Something happening in your life can be viewed as either an obstacle (scarcity mindset) or an opportunity (abundant mindset).

Abundant thinkers find situations as learning experiences vs. failure. A scarcity thinker would think of negative results as a failure. Abundant mindset would look at it as a learning experience regardless of the bad outcome. So do you think of things in an abundant way as a learning experience or as a failure.  Try to focus on the learning.

Abundant thinkers think big vs. scarcity thinkers think small.

Abundant thinkers are proactive vs. scarcity thinkers are reactive.  When something happens to you are you reacting to the situation due to a scarcity mindset or are you proactively taking control and creating a new result.

Abundant thinkers are teachable vs. scarcity thinkers know-it-all.

Abundant people with an attitude of abundance celebrate success vs. scarcity mindset individuals are jealous of success. How many times have you seen someone else achieving amazing results and you have been jealous of those results? Abundant thinkers feel if they can do it, I can do it. There's plenty of room for success for everyone. You really need to practice celebrating the successes of others in order to cultivate abundant thinking.

Abundant thinkers are positive people and they hang around positive people.  One of the most direct impacts on your life to create abundance is to be around and surround yourself with positive people.  Scarcity mindset will always attract negative people.  It's important that you practice positive surroundings.

If you do these things:

  • faith vs. fear
  • solutions vs. problems
  • opportunity vs. obstacles
  • learning vs. failure
  • thinking big vs. thinking small
  • proactive vs. reactive
  • being teachable vs. knowing it all
  • celebrating success vs. jealousy
  • positive people surrounding vs. negative people

You will create an amazing abundant mindset.

I want to give you a couple of other quick Qualities of an Abundant Thinker that I believe you should focus on having more of in your life.

#1 Practice gratitude.  Learn to want what you have NOT have what you want.

#2 Practice appreciation.  A great form of actually practicing gratitude is to appreciate what you have and you'll attract more of it.

#3 Practice generosity.  Generosity is your ability to give what you want to receive, not because you want to receive it, but to freely give more and more and you will receive more and more.

#4 Practice embracing change. This is your ability to have faith that things will work out for your benefit rather than fearing change will not work out for you.

The final thing that I want to list as a reminder as we talk about having an attitude of abundance is I want you to focus daily on these three activities.  I want you to focus and create positive reminders for yourself. I want you to be real hesitant and aware of your self-talk because having positive self-talk is very important. What you say to yourself is a key to having an abundant mentality.  Are you saying how you could have done a better job, or can't believe you did that, or why would you do this? Are you creating positive self-talk? Positive self-talk will give you much more of a habit of abundance. Stop comparing yourself to others.  When you compare yourself to others that's a huge recipe for disaster, negativity, and for a lack or a scarcity mindset. Run your own race.

  • Learn to stop comparing to others
  • Have positive self-talk
  • Create daily reminders

I know that if you stay consistent with this, you will create not only an attitude of abundance but a habit of abundance.  Having a habit of abundance is the mindset that will take you everywhere you want to go in life.

I am looking forward to talking with you about some Real Estate Mastery, some Financial Education, as well as Wealth and Marketing Strategies to help you create abundance in your business, your personal life, and relationships.

Have a great day!
