9 Keys for Momentum Right Now

Quote of the Day
Failure is the opportunity to begin again, more intelligently.  Henry Ford

The month of May is going to be your best Month ever…

Do you believe this statement?  Why wouldn’t it be?  There is no better time to start Creating, Building and Living Your Best Life than right now.  Let’s make this month your best month ever.  Let’s find a way to get you some Massive Momentum and start Crushing Your goals for 2020.

In order to do this, you need to recognize and identify the biggest things that may be influencing your success.  The current environment (due to Covid-19), your change in schedule (due to more isolation), and even your habits and patterns may have all changed over the last couple of months.   But the Good news is that all of that can change on a dime if you simply make the decision to start creating some Momentum.

Momentum will be the key ingredient in helping you to start fueling your success.  Momentum will help you to stay motivated and inspire to do what it takes to press forward in a Huge way.  I’ve thought about key steps I’ve taken over the years to create momentum and have listed them here.

If you will follow these steps and concentrate your efforts for the next 30 days, you will create some amazing momentum and that will carry you into the second half of 2020.  But, it will take some heavy lifting to start so let’s get right into it.

1-Start with Your Vision
You’ve heard me talk a lot about identifying and clarifying your vision.  This is critically important because your “dreams and goals” will be the fuel to inspire and motivate you during the extended time needed to create momentum.  Don’t be too concerned with having it all “figured out”.  Simply decide What you want your life to be like, and write it down.  A vision not written down is just a dream…a pipe dream as we say in sales.  🙂

2-Align with Your Passion
It’s important for me to mention that working or building a Vision that aligns with your Unique Talents (purpose and passion) will definitely help you to create momentum quicker and simpler.  Now if you are not doing what you ultimately want to be doing because of a job or short term requirement, then you may consider identifying what things you can do in your current position to focus on your strengths.  Set aside the things you are not passionate and good at, and double down on applying your strengths to your current activities and goals.

3-Set a BIG HUGE Goal
Jim Collins talked about setting a BHAG Big Hairy Audacious Goals in his book Built to Last. I love this concept because I think sometime we set goals too small in order to feel like we can “reach them”.  The problem is that these goals lead to “thinking small” and “inside the box”.

In order to create serious momentum, you need to Stop Thinking Small and Force Yourself to get Creating and Tap into the Amazing Potential that you have inside you.  Each and everyone of us has abilities and talents that we will never uncover unless we get outside our comfort zone and push the limits of our Beliefs.  Plus, I think we almost always underestimate our abilities and potential.  I’ve seen this over and over in my life.

Bill Gates said, “Most people overestimate that they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in 10 years.”

4-Focus & Remove any Distractions
Have you ever seen how you can use a magnifying glass to focus the sun on one particular spot and it could literally start a fire or burn that spot?  This is because like you and I the sun becomes extremely powerful when it is focused in one area.

The key to momentum is Concentrated, Focused and Massive Effort on a Single Area until it catches FIRE.  So, my advice here is to FOCUS (follow one course until successful), and eliminate all distractions that will keep you from your focus.  It’s ok to be able to say NO to everything else for a season…a period of time is all.  This means extracurricular activities, tv, hobbies, sleep, sports, or anything else you can eliminate to give you focus.  Identify your distractions and deal with them.

5-Identify & Reframe Your Fears
The other thing that can seriously impact and slow your progress in life is obviously your FEARS.  Your lack fo belief or your fears when it comes to certain activities will consistently keep you from getting outside your confront zone which is where almost 100% of your BEST LIFE will be located.

So, I recommend you sit down and seriously identify what fears you have that keep you from reaching your goals.  Are you afraid of talking to people?  Are you afraid of what people will think?  Are you afraid of failure?  Then write these things down and REFRAME them so that you will lessen your fears and be more willing to ACT when it’s needed.  For example:

If you are afraid of what people will think, then tell yourself (or write it down in front of you) that those people are not going to help you create your best life and you will not let their thoughts keep you from reaching your goals.  There is power in writing it down and telling yourself how you will act in advance of when it’s needed.

6-Identify Sources of Energy
We all have times when we are run down, tired, or just “down and out”.  However, we all have also had times in our life when we get “energized” and “re motivated” or catch our “second wind”.  Identify what things give you energy when you need it and have those resources readily available.  For example, you may get pumped up and motivated when you play certain music or see certain pictures or think about family or friends you are trying to help.  You might also be someone who gets super excited about proving someone wrong when they doubt you.  Sylvester Stallone always talked about having an enemy or competitor that drove him. We know that Arnold Swartzenegar was that guy for him that drove him to huge levels fo success.  They are great friends but he needed someone to drive and push him because he knew that he wouldn’t be able to live with losing to him because he was so competitive.  Find out what drives you and USE IT for motivation.

7-Make a Decision & Commitment
It’s important that I remind you that there is a distinct difference between Making a Decision and a Commitment to Create this Momentum.  You need to make a firm decision that you will do whatever it takes to Create Momentum and Crush Your goals this month.  As Yoda Said, “There is no TRY…Only DO”.  Make the decision.

Also, you need to “upfront” Decide that you are going to Commit to the Path you’ve laid out and “see it through”.  Don’t waiver if you are not seeing progress toward your goal at first.  Successful people Decide and Commit to Stay the course.  Your goals and dreams will usually appear long after you wanted to quit.  The difference between winners and losers is that winners Don’t Quit. They don’t give up and they stay Committed to their plan long after their motivation fades.

8-Create a Mastermind
I’m sign to talk about Masterminds a bit more on Wednesday on the Daily Mastermind Podcast, but I want you to keep this in mind.  There is a massive Power and Energy that can come from being part of a Mastermind.  I know this word is thrown around a lot lately in the marketplace, but here is what Napoleon Hill said about Masterminds in the best seller Think and Grow Rich:

  • A mastermind alliance is the “coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.”

He also said there are several benefits in creating a mastermind:
  • “No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind.”
  • “When a group of individual brains are coordinated and function in harmony, the increased energy created through that alliance, becomes available to every individual in the group.”
  • “When two or more people coordinate in a spirit of HARMONY, and work toward a definite objective, they place themselves in position, through that alliance, to absorb power directly from the great universal storehouse of Infinite Intelligence.”

Identify anyone that you can align with toward your goals.  Remember to find individuals that are like minded and success focused.  The Daily Mastermind, and myself, are here to support you and I hope you will contact me if I can help you in any way to accomplish your goals.

9-Use Daily Rituals to Create a Success Schedule
The last key is a really big one.  I have found over time that if I create daily rituals that align with my goals, my energy, and my talents, I can create serious momentum each and every day.  Let me give you some examples.
  • I work out in the morning because it gets my mind going faster.
  • I always place the items that require the most mental energy in the mornings, so that I am not worn out when working on them at end of day.
  • If I need to get an energy pick up, I might take a quick nap or do some exercise or eat some food that bring me energy.
  • I look for ways to eliminate or delicate tasks that drain my energy.
I also encourage you to schedule your rituals and your most important activities before anything else.  Then let the rest of your day fill in around it.  Make sure you don’t start your week without a full calendar of events to execute on.  Successful people don’t let their day “ use happen.”  And, if you are being productive and creating momentum, you shouldn’t really have any free time in your schedule.  This is a sign that you are not driving your schedule but it is driving you.

So there you have it.  The 9 Keys to creating massive momentum in the month of May.  I know that if you will implement these keys into your life over the next week, you will start seeing some major results.  I hope you will give it 1000% and I look forward to hearing of your success.
